The Domestic Diva’s Silhouette SD GIVEAWAY!

CONTEST CLOSED!!!

fabricpennants

I am so excited about this awesome Silhouette SD Electronic Cutting Machine Bundle GIVEAWAY!!!

Silhouette America sent me a Silhouette SD machine to try and will send the winner of my giveaway one, too (details below)!

siltransfer

I found a crown silhouette in their store for a mere 99 cents.  It had lettering that said, “Domestic Goddess,” but I cropped it out using the free Silhouette Software (which was included).

silcrown

I used their black vinyl and cut out the crown.

siltoilet

Now I have a fancy THRONE in the bathroom!  LOL!

silfrosted

Next I played with their new Frosted Vinyl.

silfrosted2

Since I didn’t have a cute fish bowl, I added the frosted vinyl to some glass from a hanging candle lantern.

silfrosted3

I love how it can out!  I can’t wait to use the frosted vinyl on mirrors and other glass objects around my home.

siladhesivepaper

I also tried using some adhesive paper.  It’s basically sticker paper.  I played around and created a few personalized graphics, pressed CUT and stuck them on cards.  Easy peasy!

Now I have to be honest here.  See, over a year ago, I purchased a Cricut Expression during a Black Friday sale.  I even bought the Sure Cuts A Lot Software.  I tried and tried to get the hang of it, but failed miserably.  So I put it back in the box.  And that’s where it’s stayed since.

When my Silhouette SD arrived, it took me a few days to take it out of the box.  But to my surprise, setup and actual cutting was a breeze!  No confusing software or file conversions.  Yeah!

Yes, both machines have their advantages.  But for me, I’m all about doing AWESOME with little effort.

Ok…now for the GIVEAWAY DETAILS…

Hemming Pants

hem

Am I the only one who has a bottomless bin of items that need to be hemmed, altered or repaired?

Most people know better than to give me things to sew.  But seems my immediate family hasn’t gotten the memo.

I like to create new things.  I don’t want to fix others’ creations.  There’s no creative process…no fabric to select, no trims to add, nothing to embellish…totally uninspiring.

My procrastination probably stems from the time several years ago when Mr. Diva asked me to hem his pricey velour sweat suit.  My serger literally ate a chunk of the velour in the middle of the pant leg.

However, I needed to get over my fear as my 9-year-old son is down to 2 pair of pants that fit him.  Like a good mother, I purchased 10 pair of pants in the appropriate size.  That was at least 2 months ago.  They all need to be hemmed at least 4 inches in length.

Last night, it took me no less than 2 hours to measure, cut and serge the bottom of each pant leg.  Perhaps next weekend, I’ll actually finishing hemming them.  Maybe not.

Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head

waterdamage

Oh, my poor Garden Room!  With all the snow melting, my Garden Room roof is shot.  Not only is the roof a loss, but so are the wood walls.

gardenroom2

We have to completely rip down the Garden Room and rebuild it this year due to all the water damage.

sunroom1

So now I’m trying to design a new 3 Season room without breaking the bank.  Whatever I decide, it’s going to have to have lots of big windows (like this one above)!  All I need now is to hit the Lotto.  Yep.

Baking Organization and Some Creativity

GOT TUPPERWARE?

baking2

I really wanted to join A Bowl Full of Lemons’ 21 Day Challenge, but I’m such a slacker.  I’m only 3 weeks behind everyone else.  Really…I have an excuse.

Marielle was in the hospital for 5 days.  She had some type of virus or something.  Thankfully, she’s all better now.  So, this past weekend, I emptied out my Spice cabinet and baking cabinets…

baking3

Actually, I had the housekeeper empty them out, wash down the shelves and wipe down all my treasured Pink Tupperware.  Whatever.  I did, however, organize it all back into the cabinets.

baking4

Can we say Tupperwhore™?  Seriously.  It’s taken me 20 years to collect.  That’s a lot of Tupperware parties!  And this is only one-third of my pink Tupperware collection.  Yes, I know I have a sickness.

baking9

Organizing the main spice cabinet was easy with the Tupperware Spice Carousel and Modular Mates.

baking7

Then onto the upper Lazy Susan cabinet which holds bulk spices, bread crumbs and seasonings.

baking8

Finally, the lower Lazy Susan cabinet now holds all my baking ingredients.

A WANNABEE BAKER

baking

I spent the month of January baking like June Cleaver.  I baked some Paula Deen cupcakes and some Ghiradelli Brownies.

boil

I even found my candy thermometer…

anticipation

so I make a batch of vanilla caramels for the first time ever.  Don’t make this recipe unless you have a full hour to stir it CONTINIOUSLY over the hot stove.

caramels

Talk about a project!  Just cutting the little wax paper squares is enough to send the most sane person over the edge.  Considering all those joints I rolled in High School, you’d think I’d be better at wrapping the homemade caramels. Regardless, they taste awesome!

 irishcupcakes

And then I baked some more cupcakes…

baking5

and some more brownies.

 CRAFTINESS

carriagefroufrou

My best buddy, Diana Bagels™, bought the fugliest baby carriage I’ve ever seen.  Diana’s sister picked it out—Diana has much better taste.  It’s vomit green, gray and black…and it’s for her sister’s new baby girl.  WTH?  She asked me to frou-frou it up with bows and tulle…and this my friends, is still way too ugly for a beautiful princess.  Just saying. (Don’t bother telling me you love the color and have the same one…it’s still ugly).

WON’T YOU BE MY VALENTINE?

divasweethearts

My older sister got me these adorable “DIVA” Sweethearts.  I thought she had them made especially for me.  No such luck…all my friends told me they are available at their local dollar stores across the U.S.

baking6

Speaking of special…every February I put out my creations to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  And every year, the same people are offered some of my “special” homemade chocolates.  Only one problem…they’re FAKE ceramic…you cannot remove them.  They fall for it every year.
